Colorful Valley Costumes
The traditional attire for Kullu Nati is a spectacular display of the valley's vibrant culture. Men wear the distinctive Kullu caps (topi) with intricate embroidery, woolen jackets called "chola," and traditional "suthan" trousers. The famous Kullu shawls with their geometric patterns are draped elegantly over shoulders.
Women adorn themselves in beautiful "ghaghra" (long skirts) with rich embroidery, fitted blouses called "angarkha," and the iconic Kullu "pattu" shawls. The colorful "maang tikka" and traditional jewelry made of silver complete their ensemble, reflecting the natural beauty of the valley.
The costumes feature the signature colors of Kullu valley - deep greens representing the forests, golden yellows symbolizing the autumn harvest, rich reds reflecting the apple orchards, and pristine whites representing the snow-capped peaks. Each costume piece is handwoven with traditional patterns passed down through generations.
What makes Kullu attire unique is the use of pure wool and local materials, perfectly suited for the mountain climate while maintaining the elegance required for celebratory occasions. The geometric patterns and motifs tell stories of the valley's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
